Tiny Talk Tuesday: Gurgles & Coos
For no apparent reason, I am reminded of the last time we were at Walmart. On the way out, David said of the older, bearded, greeter, "I just saw a man with the face of Santa Claus!"
These kids are always saying something that makes me think, "I need to remember that for Tiny Talk Tuesday." And if I don't write it down immediately, it is lost forever.
Elizabeth was trying to convince cousin Curt to come outside and watch her swing on her tummy. He said he knew how to do that. She walked away saying, "He's a smart one..."
Isn't that the most beautiful sound? aahhhh.... She's gonna have to increase her decibels, though, to be heard around here! I bet my kids are louder than Smokey, the World's Loudest Cat...

Tiny Talk Tuesday
I didn't pay attention this week, so I don't remember the things I know were said. Last night, David said, "I'm gonna need you to sew me a green nightcap." That's interesting...
Rebekah is talking a lot. She's fast. She's a climber and an explorer. This week she has eaten raw oatmeal, licked peanut butter off a large (and dangerous) knife, sucked the fresh-from-the-barn dust & poo off the eggs, and eaten a half a box of curiously strong Altoids. She's growing healthy and strong in spite of herself.

TT Tuesday and Our Zoo Review Folder
Oh! I almost missed Tuesday! There's never a dull moment around here. While many people are having spring break this week, we're not completely... We took Monday off to meet some friends at McD's for a play date. Just now realized I should have taken my camera! Oh well. Today, we worked some more on our Zoo Review from last Tuesday's field trip. Now there's a place that gets CRAZY on Spring Break Week! Soooo glad we went last week!
Half way through his math, David said, "Hey, I know what you're doing. You're trying to trick me into having school!" I told him there was no trick to it! We will be having a regular school day on Wednesday, celebrating St. Patrick's Day on Thursday (which will include some school disguised as fun), and having a play day on Friday.
Other tiny talk that has been overheard this week...
Wow, that's a lot of toilet paper. You must have a big bottom. (I'm not telling who said that to whom.)
Smell my feet. They smell like lemons!
Cha-ma-milk! Cha-ma-milk! Cha-ma-milk... (the chanting of "chocolate milk" continues from the time I announced that I was making it, until it was going down her almost 2-year-old throat)
Oh, what fun it is!

Tiny Talk Tuesday is Growing Up
David: When was Dad a little boy?
Mom: Oh, 20-25-30 years ago.
David: Was that back in the time when the first cars were made?
Bwahahahahah!!!
This boy continues to amaze me as he grows and thinks. He built a Lego Minifigure of God the other day. He was wearing a golden crown and had "golden, featherless wings." His two-week old cousin went to be with the Lord last night and he asked as he was praying, "And God, can you please tell me if her white dress turned into a golden dress?" He also asked, on his own, "And in Jesus' name, help me not to sin." He's getting the hang of this, isn't he?
His language skills have really been increasing this year and he's only recently started writing things just because he wants to. He got on the computer last night and sounded out a bunch of stuff to type, including "Native American Indian" and even some Spanish words!
David also started attending a new Sunday school class for new believers. There were 4 kids in the class last week between 1st - 3rd grade. I think he was the youngest. And yes, Dad & I had to go into the class with him. Then Sunday night, he went to childcare while Mom & Dad tried out a new life group. That doesn't sound like much, but he has been going through so much anxiety that he has not been able to stay with anyone other than family in months. It was very much a relief to see him walking the other way... and at the same time hard to see him walking that way. He's been glued to me so much in the last year. And now He's growing up...

Tiny Talk Gets Baptized!
Pretty cute, huh? Elizabeth was just as excited as David and to everyone that spoke to her, she said, "David is getting bab-tized this morning!"
Tonight, David gave me a loud kiss. As he was walking away, I heard him say, "I thought being baptized would make my kisses quieter. Perhaps when I grow up they will." I have no idea where that came from!
A few days ago, David asked: Were you born in Texas?
Mom: Yes, I was born in Cleburne.
David: What was Cleburne like in older times?
Gee, thanks! It was smaller. And there was no Super Walmart, only a little Walmart with no McDonald's inside. McDonald's had an outside playground with a metal slide and a hamburger you could climb up inside...
Overheard from Elizabeth today:
When I grow up I'm gonna be a baby doctor... I mean an ice skater.
I can't get any pictures of Rebekah lately because she's moving too much. She's also saying more & more every day. Among her favorite things to say is, "MOM!!!!!!!" but she has also started saying yes ma'am when I ask her a question and we're still working on thank you!

Tiny Talk Tuesday
I know. It's Wednesday.
Rebekah is really talking a lot now-a-days. And still getting into everything! This morning, the third time I caught her getting into our stash of Yummy Earth suckers, I called her, "Rebekah Leigh!" She stuck her hands up and shook her head as if to say, "It wasn't me, Mommy!" with a sucker hanging out of her mouth.
I took the bag and (finally) moved it to a different pantry location. Then she repeated, "Share, Mommy; share, Mommy!"

Tiny Talk on Thankfulness
You can tell what's most important around here. These are the first ones they came up with:
The kids are enjoying adding to our turkey's feathers and coming up with something unique each day. The rules are that they can't say the same thing as someone else on the same day. So Elizabeth could be thankful for her family, but not on the day that David already said it. Hopefully by Thanksgiving, we'll have a very full Tom!
My sister is hosting her 30 Days of Thanksgiving again this year. Check her out. She's cool. : )
P.S. - It's 46 days 'till Christmas... 6.5 weeks... and I'm almost ready to skip straight to the Christmas decorations. I finished my Christmas shopping for one kid today!

Tiny Talk Tuesday
Two really cute things were said in the car on Monday by David & Elizabeth both. I was driving & couldn't write them down. I have no recollection now.
Elizabeth's was one of those things where she used the wrong word in a sentence & it turned out hilarious.
David's had something to do with the fact that putting an ice cute in his arm pit tickled. What does that tell ya?
A few moments later, Elizabeth decided she wanted to tickle her armpits with an ice cube also. I told her no, because the ice would melt & get her clothes all wet. (Seemed to not matter with David, because he'd already gotten himself wet doing this several times... and he was wearing a muscle shirt anyway.) She promised not to get her clothes wet. Then I heard these words come out of my mouth: There is no way you can put an ice cube in your arm pit and not have it melt on your clothes.
Later that same day, I heard myself saying these words to the OLDEST child: Are you licking the floor!??!?!? STOP THAT!!!!
What a day. Perhaps I should have called this Big Talk Tuesday.

More Tiny Talk Tuesday
Tonight, I was helping Elizabeth out of the tub when she said, "I don't want Jesse to grow up."
I'm sure Aunt Wee will love this, but I said, "Maybe Aunt Wee needs a toy closet to keep a few toys in, so you'll have something to play with when you go down there."
As I helped her into her PJ's, she said, "Well, I think Jesse needs a big pink doll house in his room. And a Barbie with a pink dress."
Don't you think Jesse would just love to have a big pink doll house in his room??? : )

Tiny Talk Tuesday: Toothless Edition
There were several things Elizabeth said this week that made me think, "I'm gonna remember that for Tiny Talk Tuesday." You'll just have to trust me. She's cute.
Elizabeth and I went out to the barn to put the chickens up tonight. Rebekah was already asleep & in bed. I'm not even sure what David was doing. We came back inside to find David in the bathroom crying, blood on his face.I was on the phone with Aunt Sissy, so I quickly said goodbye just as David started to exclaim in his distress, "Mom! I'm falling apart!!!"
Please don't think that we've never warned him that he would loose his baby teeth. Apparently that just slipped his mind.
After reminding him about his baby teeth and his grown up teeth, and reassuring him that this means he's turning into a big kid, he started to be ok with falling apart... I mean, loosing a tooth.
Upon further questioning, it seems that he was playing on the couch and hit his mouth, knocking the tooth out. It must have been starting to loosen without us noticing. Now that he's asleep, I guess it's time to put on my fairy wings...

Tiny Talk Tuesday
Oh, there's talking. Constantly. And I've had a head & neck ache for 2 days now. So sorry, but I can't remember anything that's been said. Except that there was a lot said. I'm not kidding. A lot. And much of it was loud. Much louder than inside voices should be.
Rebekah got herself stuck in this position yesterday morning. Being the good mom that I am, I ran for my camera instead of helping her. Bad move, because after that she was fussy for a lot of the day. I'll have to move faster next time.
On another note, Dad's follow-up visit with his surgeon is today. Kids will go be loud at Grana's house & hopefully we'll get a good report from the dr.

Tiny Talk Tuesday
Sorry I have no photos today.
Overheard during bed time snacks...
Elizabeth: Who's that girl? (on the box of Legos)
David: That's Princess Leia.
Elizabeth: And who's that guy?
David: That's Luke Skywalker.
Elizabeth: Where's Han Solo?
David: He's right there! spoken with a 'you silly girl' tone
crunching of Goldfish for a while...
Elizabeth: Does Dark Vader have a family?
David: Naaahhhh.
more crunching & slurping of milk...
Elizabeth: Dark Vader's light saber is supposed to be pink.
David: No it's not! It's supposed to be red!
Elizabeth: It's supposed to be red???
David: Yea!
Today we (Mom & Dad) are meeting with a surgeon about Dad's umbilical hernia. Out of the blue yesterday, Elizabeth started talking about the doctor, so I thought I'd let them know what was happening.
Elizabeth: Lambie needs to go to the doctor and get a shot so she'll feel better. (Lambie is her stuffed lamb. Not sure why she needs a shot.)
Mom: Speaking of the doctor... tomorrow
David, cutting me off: The new baby is going to come?!?!!?
Mom: No. The baby has to grow for a while inside Mommy's tummy before it comes. Remember how big my tummy will grow before the new baby?
David: Yeah! And then all the sudden his head will pop out!!! (making puppet movements with his hands) And then the rest of him will come out and he will be soooooo cute!
Elizabeth: And our new baby will come out and be sooo cute!
Mom: OK... that's not for a while. Tomorrow, we're going to get Dad's belly button looked at.
David: Is Dad's belly button broken?
Elizabeth: Is your belly button ok, Mom?
David: Mom, did your belly button used to be broken?
