Happy Birthday to All!

October is a month full of family birthdays for us!  We've already been to Mason's 2nd birthday party and at least Dad made it to Alex's 11th birthday party, both of which overlapped with 2 other birthday parties - Kenedie's 10th and Lexie's 1st.  Wow!  And that was just cousins on Dad's side of the family!

Mom's youngest niece turned 17 this week!  I shared our video & pictures to her on facebook.  Check out her very creative birthday party!

Saturday was Aunt Sissy's birthday!  I forgot to load her videos yesterday, but did send well wishes to her on her busy day.  Wish I could have been there with you!

And Elizabeth wanted to do her own video.  The writing she put on the card was also completely her own doing - I wasn't even watching what she was doing!

And today we will celebrate Grandpa's birthday with a birthday lunch at Aunt Wee's house.  Then just one more - tomorrow is Aunt Erin's birthday.

SO... for the last 2 weeks of October, I'd like to wish a very

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to
Mason,
Alex,
Kenedie,
Lexie,
Jordann,
Aunt Sissy,
Grandpa,
and
Aunt Erin

God is in Control

I asked my Momma (aka Grandma) how she was doing after being diagnosed with liver cancer this week. She replied, "Well, I don't like it... but God is in control." What a wonderful example I have in her. This song's for you, Momma. I hope it encourages your spirit.

To everyone else, please keep Momma in your prayers.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

We just finished the birthday run: Mason, Jordann, Aunt Sissy, Grandpa, Aunt Erin... all one day after the other! I wished everyone happy birthday on Facebook, but here's your official blog wishes: Happy Birthday to all!

David to Elizabeth: Shhh!
Elizabeth: Don't tell me that!
David: I was just making the /sh/ sound.
Elizabeth: I don't like that sound.

Wow. I can't believe my kids are now having conversations with each other.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

The other night while reading books, we had this conversation...
Mom: Are we gonna read Goodnight Moon?
David: Uh-huh.
Mom: What else do you want to read tonight?
David: Good Morning Sun?
.
See more Tiny Talk over at Mary's... maybe (she's moving this week).

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Brown hair, blue eyes, green mask, blue cape... Will the real Super Why
please stand up?

We finally decided on David's costume - and if you haven't seen Super Why on PBS, I highly recommend it!

I found a great Etsy seller, Superfly Kidz, who made the cape and mask for us. If you're in the market for a super hero or princess cape, check her out! She'll even make capes for birthday parties!

After getting the cape & mask in the mail on Monday, David ran around the house saying, "Super David, with the Power to Help!" Super Why has the Power to Read, and he always says, "Super You, with the Power to Help!"

For bedtime prayers Monday night, David repeated me...
Mom: Thank you, God, for David.
David: Thank you, God, for Super David.
Mom: Thank you, God, for Elizabeth.
David: Thank you, God, for Super Elizabeth.
Mom: Thank you, God, for Mom & Dad.
David: Thank you, God, for Super Mom.
Sorry, Dad.... you'll be super one of these nights, I'm sure!

David had been noticing that it's getting darker each week as we go to Cubbies, so we talked about how it was getting darker each night. Saturday night on the way home from birthday dinner at Uncle Bubba's house, David noticed it was getting dark & said, "Mom, it's dark outside. Time to go to Cubbies!"

Speaking of the birthday dinner, David still has an aversion to the Birthday Song, so they sang it stealthily, but David got in one very sweet, "Happy Birthday, Grandpa!"

Dad was vacuuming the rug in the office/guest room. David jumped up on the bed. Dad then picked up the vacuum and started vacuuming on the bed. David told him, "That is very dangerous, Dad!" So dad got the vacuum off the bed. : )

See other Tiny Talk over at Not Before 7. It's always a treat each week to read what they're saying!

We sang Happy Birthday via e-mail to cousin Jordann yesterday, today we'll blog it to Aunt Sissy:
Happy Birthday to You,
Happy Birthday to You,
Happy Birthday, Aunt Sissy,
Happy Birthday to You!!!
Want to see some fun Countdown to Halloween humor? Uncle Bubba is posting a humorous cartoon every day. They've been very funny so far!

Goodbye Dinner

Tonight we went to Uncle Bubba's house for Andy's goodbye dinner. He leaves tomorrow for his summer mission trip to Thailand! Please keep him (and his family) in your prayers. Thanks to our friends who offer support & prayers without even knowing him personally!
.
.
Here are Mom & David with Andy. Wow... this humidity sure did make my hair flat!

Earlier today, Grandpa invited David for a walk to the mailbox. When David saw Grandpa put on his cowboy hat, David ran over to his toybox & dug his out!

.
This afternoon, Mom, Dad & David went for a walk around the North Place. There were some really tall weeds up there!

Elizabeth's First Shower

Elizabeth attended her first bridal shower this evening! All the girls in this photo (except Elizabeth) went to UMHB. Dixie (in black) is getting married this summer. Tina (in the stripped skirt) was my RA for 2 years, if I can remember that far back correctly!

Congratulations, Dixie! May you have many, many wonderful memories in your new family!

Comm Center Going Away Party

Dad's coworkers from the hospital took us out for a going away dinner tonight and gave him this really cute cookie bouquet. We had a good time with some good Mexican food!

Here you can see Elizabeth has turned a couple of burly firemen into mush! The Captain (holding E) also works at the Comm Center. The Lieutenant (right) is one of Dad's favorite officers, to say the least.
Here's a funny story... When I passed Elizabeth across the table to the Captain, David started screaming, "BABY!!!" As if to say, "She belongs to us!!!" Dad reassured David that it was OK for the Captain to hold her. He still hollered "BABY" every once in a while, just to make sure everyone knew where she belongs. We thought that was sweet, David was showing his first signs of being protective of her. So he must really like her!

Denise (left) was the boss that hired Alan. She is married to the Lieutenant. I failed to warn Denise & Nichole that I was taking their picture. : )

Beth (left) and her son are visiting with the new boss, Wendy.

Two Months Already???

I can't believe it's been two months already. This photo was the day we came home from the hospital. At today's check-up, Elizabeth weighed in at 10 pounds, 7.5 oz. My how time flies...

We'd also like to wish a Happy First Birthday to our friend Lavery!

In other news... I'd like to join everyone else in congratulating my husband on getting hired by the Fort Worth Fire Department on his first try! I'm proud of you, baby.

... Now I've got only 3 weeks to pack up house & find a new one!!! AAAAHHH!!!
