A Father's Day Tribute

Aunt Sissy started a neat tradition when the girls were little - a Father's Day collage. I've seen Uncle Glenn's office in the past & would say it was quite a hit, filling the walls! We started the same thing last year. Here is our first collage.

This year's Father's Day collage.

Happy Father's Day to Dad from David!!!

And now to walk down memory lane...

I looked for a picture of just the two of us, but Aunt Sissy probably has them all, so here I am with my Daddy, Momma, Sissy & Bubba. I'm the little one. This must have been some time in 1973. Except for his beard now, Daddy looks pretty much the same! Check out Bubba's tie!!! I just wonder what Daddy's looked like behind Bubba... it's probably still in his closet!

Happy Father's Day to David's Grandpa!!!

Here is Dad with Grandpappy at a wedding in 1980. I heard a line in a TV show in last Friday night that said, "How can you miss somebody so much who you never knew?" I understood.

Happy Father's Day to David's Grandpappy!!!

Lady and the Tramp on TV

I thought Aunt Jana would enjoy seeing this. David perched himself up on the table and was mezmerized by Lady & the Tramp when it came on TV last night. He didn't last the whole movie - commercials and weather bulletins kept interrupting & they didn't interest him at all.

River Hop 1

We went to Garner State Park on Wednesday. Look how pretty the water was from a distance:

We started at the deep swimming hole, then after swimming a while and taking turns staying with David in his float ring, we walked up stream to the more shallow running water. David enjoyed this part better than the deep stuff. I think he was unsure about not having his feet touch anything.

Here, David was trying to pick up a big rock. It was cute.

Look At Us Grow!

WOW! These tomatoes have taken off! The cages only come up to my waist, so I was holding the top of the yellow pear plant. The yellow pear plant actually toppled over, cage & all yesterday, so I had to anchor the cage to the fence. Earlier this week I harvested & ate the first Beefmaster tomato off the plant that's behind the yellow pear plant. The tomato plants to the right are celebrity and I have one that looks like it will be ready in a few days. All of the plants are heavy with fruit. The plant at my feet (not in the garden) is a Texas Star Hibiscus.

Yesterday I got 2 yellow pears & ate them before we got back inside. (David was playing in the sandbox, so I was holding them for a while.) I also picked 2 anaheim peppers, which were used in Dad's quesedilla for supper and a yellow squash, which I cooked for my supper! Today, I got about 8 ripe pears! Believe it or not, they all made it inside, but will most likely be devoured at supper.

Want to refer to the previous pictures of the garden? See March 30, then look at May 5.

Young Yanni

I wonder if this is what Yanni looked like as a toddler?

This actually took place today!

It's Started Already

Baby #2 isn't even here yet and I'm already taking less pictures!!! OK, sorry about going AWOL... I just wasn't feeling good. I usually blog while David's asleep & for the past few weeks, I've been sleeping while he's asleep! I decided I needed to try to do this tonight before I crash, so I'm going to work quickly...

To catch you up... this is David's new Big Boy Bed "Before" it was set up! This is the mattress from Ikea that he got for his birthday. It was rolled up & vacuum packed! That is Tort's ear in the front right corner.

"After" it was unrolled - David and Tabi take it for a test run. The instructions say it will spring back up to the correct thickness in 3-4 days... and it did. It is very comfortable now.

The baby bed was removed from the corner it was in & the mattress "set up" on the floor (so that mom isn't constantly fishing toys out from under it!). Oh, falling off isn't so bad that way, either. These are the cars & trucks sheets David got for his birthday - complete with fire trucks & helicopters! I used my old deacon's bench/toy box for a headboard. So far, only one night have I found him off the mattress. He was crying in his sleep & when I peeked in, his head & shoulders were on the floor while the rest of him was up on the mattress!

MawMaw & Aunt Erin came out for a visit June 1-4. Here they are enjoying the pool he got for his birthday. Today at 9am, the water was very cold, but by about 3:30pm, the water in the pool was too hot for him to get in! I think we need to move it to where it will get a little more shade. It was 101* this afternoon, but very little humidity, so it didn't really feel that bad, especially when you get wet.

Here is David putting a "hat" on Aunt Erin. It is actually a sand sifter that came with a beach bucket set he got for his birthday! Ever since she started this with him, he's been wearing that sifter on his head all around the house!
