Easter Celebrations! and Dad's Birthday!

Our Easter celebrations began at Thursday School a few days before Easter.

On Friday, we dyed Easter eggs. This was Elizabeth's first year to participate.

After Rebekah's First Birthday Party, we had another Easter Egg Hunt at our house with Dad's family & some friends.

Grandpa thought it was funny
that the chickens were hunting eggs too!

We celebrated Easter along with Dad's birthday on Sunday at Grandpa's house.

Cute, huh?

After this final egg hunt, we all took a good nap, then we further celebrated Dad's birthday with a picnic at the pond & some fishing. The bluebonnets were blooming... the kids were happy... and I forgot to take my camera with us again.

I would like to say thank you to Grana and Uncle Bubba for sharing these photos with me!

Early Easter Eggs

I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to get Easter Eggs dyed next week, so we went ahead & did it today. I also got some plastic eggs loaded with M&M's because even after having a baby, I thought I'd still want to see David & Elizabeth hunt eggs in the yard next weekend. Now I don't have to worry about that next week.

I took the easy way out... David & I dyed eggs while Elizabeth was napping. We dyed all the raw eggs I had in the fridge - about a dozen & a half. They'd be wasted if I boiled them, so we'll just have pretty eggs for breakfast for the next 2 weeks. David waited patiently to see the results.

For some reason, eggs in the blue and purple cups floated. Who knows the scientific reason for this? David said the lighter part left sticking out looked like a galaxy.

There was great excitement as each color was revealed.

Well, we were using raw eggs... but we only had 2 break!

Ready to go back in the fridge for colorful breakfasts!

Getting Ready for Christmas & Great Giveaways!

We've been busy with Christmas activity around here! I decided I waited too late to make an Advent/Countdown calendar this year, so we went with the traditional Countdown Chain. And the crafts have begun!
So far we've played with glitter, freezer paper, markers, fabric and ribbon. I haven't decided if I'm going to post finished pictures here or not because some of them will be Christmas gifts! The pantry is stocked with flour, yeast, sugar, oatmeal, chocolate chips, and M&M's - all the essentials for Christmas baking! I started a Sourdough Starter this week, and I must say - this stuff is nasty! The only thing that's keeping me interested is the potential for all the different recipes I can make with the stuff.

And guess what? Our neighbor, Mr. Nick, has soft water. : \ Dad found a water softener that also has an iron remover setting, but when we went to Lowe's last night, they weren't in stock. Go figure.

And how about this - 5 Minutes for Mom is having an amazing some amazing Christmas giveaways this year... including a $500 Home Depot Gift Card! Wow, that would almost cover a water softener! I've got every appendage crossed that I can manage to cross and am trying to teach the kids how to cross their fingers, too! : )

And we also have 5 - yep, FIVE - chances to win $500 Kmart Gift Cards! Check out the following blogs to see how:

Is it Christmas yet?

Easter Sunday with the Fam

The garden hose served as the starting line for the Easter egg hunt at Grandma & Grandpa's house. The "kids" were lined up in order from youngest to oldest. Notice that the oldest is Grandpa, with the biggest Easter basket ever!

David found Grandpa's bucket just sitting there & decided that was the way to go!

Elizabeth threw up several times throughout night, so we didn't make it to Easter services at church. I did put the dress on her for photos, though!
I'd like to thank Tia Taya for handing down the perfect Easter dress for our little Ladybug! I think she'll wear it next Sunday.

Pre-Easter Celebrations

Saturday before Palm Sunday, we had our Easter get-together at Grana's house. Before we went over there, David helped MawMaw dye some of the Easter eggs for the big hunt! I think there were about 350 Easter eggs for 6 kids, one of them being Elizabeth!
.
Here are David & Elizabeth with their cousins before the egg hunt:
Elizabeth had just reached over & touched David's basket... which was a no-no in his eyes!

I took pictures on the "little kids side" of the yard first & by the time I got over where the big kids were hunting, they were done! They didn't waste any time!

I thought the time of day & lighting were perfect for taking pictures! Here are some of my favorites:

Trying to open a melted Kiss.

Playing with a toy from an egg.

Playing with a pile of eggs.
