Busy Times

I just now realized that I didn't have a picture of David prepared for the blog. I'll get one for next time. We've been busy since the last post eBaying & nesting!

This was today's load to the PO. I went in for a gurney.

Since my last post, David has learned how to use a mouse, declared everything that he wants, and said thank you!

And I have to put branches back on the Christmas tree several times a day... Tabi's First Christmas is not going all that great...

Here she is smack in the middle of Bethlehem.

No Silent Night Here

Last night after David went to bed, I put out the Little People Nativity Scene. It was so cute all silent & reverent in the light from the tree.... Then we woke up this morning.

Before David even entered the room, someone else had already been playing with the nativity. I believe it was the gray one on the background in the photo above. She is also my primary suspect for the dislodged branches that I found this morning.

As you can see in the photo, David is enjoying the nativity. I don't know if the batteries for the star & music are going to last all year as often as he's pushing it!

Here Comes the Tree!

After David went to bed last night, Tabi helped me finish putting up the tree and we got the white/chili pepper lights on it. She wasn't quite as helpful when it came to putting the tree skirt in place... but it got done...

And David woke up to a lit Christmas tree this morning! It was so cute to see how his face lit up when he saw the lights.

Throughout the day, we added little touches, like a string of colored lights. When he came back in the room & saw those, he started naming all the colors & got very excited!

Here he is trying not to touch the lights. He already got in trouble for unscrewing the bigger bulbs!

Some blue tinsel helped distract him for a while.

When Dad got home from the hospital, he put the star on top of the tree! We cheered for him!

To solve my dilemma about being pregnant and putting the lights up, I came up with a plan. Below you will see the lights "on" the house.

David's face tonight when he saw the lights made all that bending, stooping, and general discomfort worth it! We're the first lights I've seen for several blocks.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

This was our table center piece today! I don't really have any spectacular pictures, but here they are anyway.

David got started early with a biscuit. He wouldn't leave his plate on the placemat! He wouldn't try the cranberries or stuffing and the green beans turned out too spicy for him.

After naptime, we went with Dad to the training center while he worked out. David enjoyed running around the big fenced-in area and helping out with the tape measure.

After supper we pulled out the tree to set up. David didn't really want to cooperate with the assembly. He just wanted to run off with the parts, so he ended up in the office with Dad while Mom worked on the tree.

It's surprising how long it takes to assemble a tree when you're pregnant. This is as far as I've gotten so far. I'll put up pictures of it when it's done tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

And Happy Thanksgiving to all those who aren't reading this until tomorrow! The day before Thanksgiving is the busiest grocery shopping day of the year, and every year I vow not to be at HEB the next year on this day. But it happened again! Spirits were good this morning, though. HEB made the news tonight full of last minute shoppers, though.

The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year. Now I'm told that the Monday after Thanksgiving is the busiest online shopping day of the year! We're ready, though, with plenty of boxes and a store full of toys! David is helping me make sure the boxes are good & sturdy. But I think this one might not be as sturdy as it once was... Uncle Bubba, please don't report us for using boxes improperly!

David toppled out of his box and into a good book! He didn't care that the pictures were upside down or that he was reading it front to back. He just happily told the story as he flipped the pages.

He was so proud when he got to the monster at the FRONT of the book! (meaning he made it all the way through the book, "reading" it all by himself!)

Now I'm off to make a pumpkin pie!

33 Weeks

Sorry it's so dark. There's so much to get done still...

And I'm afraid I'm not going to get the lights up on my house this Thursday! Well, I probably could, but I'm not going to risk the ladder looking like this!

David's Turkey & More Sentences

David wanted to show you the turkey he "made" at Mother's Day Out last Thursday. He knows those are his hands up there!

He's saying so many things now I can't even keep up with it all to tell you! Sentences, songs, thoughts all his own. One of the cutest things he's saying right now:

I so cute!

I admit, that one he's heard repeatedly. : )

I did make note of 2 sentences he said today that I just had to share:

  1. I have a-no-ner (another) booger.
  2. I put in mouf (mouth).

Now before you get all grossed out, those were NOT in succession!!!! It was 2 different times today, but I just thought it was really funny that he said both of those today.

Tonight he watched his first whole movie. Since there was nothing we wanted to watch on our 2 channels, and Blockbuster didn't have Cars available, I pulled out a classic - The Muppet Movie. He really liked Animal!

Who Says It Doesn't Matter?

I just wanted to share how my decision is effecting my son... My decision? To listen to Christian radio. David has started singing the K-LOVE jingle and this morning in the car, the song was about Jesus. Every time the singer sang, "Jesus", David said it too! It was so cute! And is perhaps strong evidence to the power of what we listen to. It puts me in a better mood, too.

Here is Dad wailing with 4HIM this evening. David thought Dad was pretty silly, with his falsetto voice. Can you tell David had ketchup for supper?

Below, David decided to join in on the song, and I could not have been happier that the digital camera went off when it did! : )

FYI - Dad passed his Pediatric Prehospital Care course with flying colors and now has another card to stick in his wallet.

Two Sentences!

This afternoon, David was looking at a picture book about shapes. The page for the heart shape showed 2 foil wrapped chocolate hearts. David instinctively labeled then, "candies." I can't remember him ever having foil wrapped candy... go figure! And I'm pretty sure he said candies rather than candy every time he said it. Anyway, then he touched the smaller heart and said, "baby candies." THEN... I will try to type it exactly like he said it, so you'll get the full effect:

Heh-whoa...
baby...
candies...
how you ?

That's two sentences!!! This may not sound like a big deal, but it really is! Then he said it again, so I repeated it & added, "I'm fine, thank you." And he repeated the thank you part.

Would you believe that in just a few weeks, November 27 to be exact, I have been blogging for one year? I guess I should plan something special for that day... : ) Anyway, to make today's post even better, I realized that it was almost a year ago that David's pediatrician first referred us to speech and physical therapy. My how time has flown!

F is for FWAG

David was very cute waving his little flag at the Veteran's Day parade today. It was pretty chilly on our corner. The parade was very long and being hungry and tired, we only lasted about 45 minutes. Since the car was being blocked in by the parade, we walked 4 blocks to the hospital to drop in on Dad and got to see the helicopter take off twice.

We'll just call today's parade a warm-up for the exciting one in 3 weeks - the parade of lights!

David at 2 1/2

David is now 2 1/2 years old! Can you believe it??? When he turned 2, I couldn't believe how big he looked in his photos, but just look at him now!

I didn't have anything in mind, so we did some fall themed pictures and some Christmas themed since they won't be ready to pick up until the Monday after Thanksgiving. Turns out this pumpkin one is my favorite, so we'll be sending out pumpkin pictures in our Christmas cards! : )

Of course, the Christmas pictures were cute, too! The blue one is my favorite of these. And he's holding the same blue ornament that he was holding in last year's Christmas pictures.

So, do we bear any resemblance? When I saw this pose at the studio, it reminded me of this photo of myself at 2 1/2!

Don't Cry...

David spilled his milk this morning at breakfast. He did not cry. I started to clean it up, when suddenly help appeared...

BEFORE

AFTER

Tabi helped a little, too. She seemed to know when to stop, though. Unlike certain others...

Dads & Donuts at MDO... and a Ladybug

Today, Mother's Day Out hosted "Dads & Donuts" where dads were invited to stay for donuts & juice for a little while at the beginning of the day. Luckily Dad was off duty today, so he was able to share donuts with David.

This was the art project that David's class made today... Definitely a keeper! The photo was taken last week at MDO.

And here is the project I've been working on lately...

It's a wall hanging to go above the baby bed. It matches the bumper pads & bed skirt that we used with David, but the ladybugs add a feminine touch. : ) I'm planning a pillow to match. Would you believe that the binding took the longest to do?!? I learned the difference between single fold, double wide and double fold bias tapes in the last week... and that Hobby Lobby is pretty good about returns. I think it's much prettier in person than in the photo.

Family Fun Night Photos Are Here!

The long awaited photos from Family Fun Night last Sunday are here!

I would like to start by saying that David did indeed have a ball and was having a lot of fun jumping in the bounce house and going down the air slide. You'd never know it from these photos, though, because every time the lady took a picture of him, as soon as her red light started to blink, his face went blank. Anyway, here you go!

The preschool inflatables were set up in the chapel (the old sanctuary). David also gets to go in there at Mother's Day Out when it's too wet or cold to go to the playground.

I promise you he had been having fun! : )

He was getting a boost from the back side to the top of the air slide. He loved going down it... until that red light started flashing again!

Hey, look! We almost got a smile there!

I would like to say thank you to the lady that took the photos and emailed them to us!!!

Another Happy Birthday

David actually sang into the phone to leave MawMaw a message last night. When we were done, the phone was disconnected, so I don't know how much of the message she actually heard. She said it was almost the whole song, when we talked to her this morning, though.

And the second birthday of this set goes to David's cousin Jesse:

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday Dear Jesse,
Happy Birthday to you!!!

Pregnancy Update

Blogger is like a computer. It works most of the time without any problems, but when it doesn't work, it sure is annoying.

Anyway, I thought I'd give a quick pregnancy update. I'm thinking she's moving down... onto my bladder! She continues to be very active, in spite of her decreasing amount of room to do it in! She gets hiccups quite frequently. The muscles of my abdomen are quite sore from the stretch and it's getting harder & harder for me to get down, sit, and get back up at David's little table with him! The OB office never called to let me know how the glucose test went, so I'm hoping that means it was fine. I have to go back next week anyway. I guess that's about it... I'm getting ready to get this over with.
