Egg Hunt #3

 Think they'll find any eggs?!?!  This egg hunt was at church Sunday morning.  Elizabeth's age group was in the grass by the playground.  Rebekah was inside the playground.  And David was on the other side of the building.  Not great for a mom of many, but Lauren took David, Rebekah went in with Mason & Aunt Erin, Grandpa kept an eye on Elizabeth and Sarah stayed inside with Grana.  I think she just walked around showing off the baby for the 8 minutes the egg hunt took!  And I walked back & forth taking pictures.

 Elizabeth only picked up pink eggs.  Aunt Erin opened a sucker for Rebekah, and thus the "I want candy" began...

 Pretty girls!  Then I spent the next 20 minutes before church started getting the ants out of Rebekah's eggs.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

I usually ask David what his lesson was about in Sunday School. He usually tells me he doesn't know. This week, I asked again, not really expecting an answer. Then it came.

Peter, James, and John.
Oh??!?! Your story was about Peter, James & John?
uh-huh
What about them?
They went fishing. They were in a boat.
Well, what happened?
They didn't catch any fish.
Then what?
Then Jesus showed up!
And what did he tell them to do?
silence
Did he tell them to throw their nets on the other side of the boat?
Uh-huh.
Then what? Did they catch any fish?
Uh-huh. They caught so many fish that their nets tore apart!

How about that? It was kinda like talking to a man. And I wonder how the story was presented this week that got him so engaged in it...

Elizabeth, playing with her Little People Fire Station, put the fireman inside & closed the door saying, "Nite, nite Dad. I love you! Nite, nite Dad. I love you, I love you!" Aw!

Going at Break Neck Speed!

OK, I know I am so behind! It will all make sense soon! Here's just a touch of what's gone on since I last blogged:

Finished the tile in the mech room, kids bathroom, and one of the closets. There's David checking out the bathroom tile.

We got the second half of the laminate flooring to the house & unloaded it. Picked out & ordered the wood burning stove. Picked out & had delivered the vanity cabinets, tops, and matching mirrors for both bathrooms. (and found them all on clearance, saving a TON of money!) We've been to lots of tile/flooring stores trying to agree on and get all the tile we need for the master bath floor & shower. And we purchased the remaining cattle troughs that we'll be using for the back retaining wall. Electricians got all the lights & fans up. The wood stove we went with didn't require as large a floor space as the first one, so Dad adjusted the hearth and designed a new floor. Refrigerator/freezer and range were delivered today and the cabinet man says one more week before the cabinets are ready... which will cause a delay on the flooring.

We did a lot of clean-up (because apparently nobody can clean up their own mess) and Grandpa has been helping with haul-off and dirt work outside the house. His tractor & Mr. Nick's trailer have been a great help for work on the retaining walls, dirt work and clean-up! Grandma's babysitting has been invaluable as well, freeing me up to work at the house in the mornings.

OK... now we'll backtrack to a couple of weekends ago... I forgot to post any photos from the carnival at the Old Settler's Reunion! So here are some of my favorite photos from that:

Of course, we had to have a funnel cake. David wouldn't even try it, but Elizabeth loved it! The white stuff on her face is powdered sugar from her first funnel cake! We wore out before the fiddle contest.

This past weekend Grandma & I took off to enjoy a wonderful weekend at the Women of Faith Conference! We had a great time at the conference, hotel and dining out! Here we are Saturday before we left the conference:

Sunday was promotion day at church & all of us had new classes to attend! David's class was HUGE, so I wonder if they're going to need to break his age into another class (there's already 2 classes of 4 yo's) and we stopped by Elizabeth's former class to let them know that she was walking! They were very excited to hear it & sad that she was promoting to the next class.

500!!! and the Tea

This is my 500th post!

I need to have some type of hooplah to celebrate, but I couldn't think of anything. Too much cookies & Tea going on this week, I guess. But the best thing of all, my best friend is coming to visit tomorrow!!! And boy do I need some time with my best friend! That will be my hooplah! Watch for pictures to be posted on Monday or Tuesday.

Now on to today! It was the Ladies Christmas Tea at Grandma's church. Here I am with my Momma (aka Grandma), and my Sister-in-Law. Don't we look festive?! Look how shiny Lynne is!!!

Ladies getting together at a Baptist church = good food! Check out that cheesecake! Mmmm... it was wonderful! The food courses were served on clear plastic plates, sat upon our pretty place settings at each table. Here, you can see Grandmama's beautiful china showing behind the cheesecake. The fellowship hall was filled to capacity. I think I heard there were around 200 ladies there from the community, relatives (sisters, daughters, mothers, aunts, etc) , and a few ladies who'd moved off came back for the Tea to visit old friends. Marci Hatfield was the speaker.

Here I am with Dad's side of the family. I will list them in relation to Elizabeth, starting on the bottom row: Great Grandma Grana, Great Aunt Marlene, Future Cousin Suzanne, MawMaw. And on the back row: Me, Elizabeth, Cousin Rachel, and Great Aunt Jan. I think Rachel & Suzanne will be 2nd cousins to Elizabeth. Did I get that right? So from Grana to Elizabeth, that's 4 generations! Suzanne, Jan & I are married in.

We even had one more set of family there that I failed to get a picture of: Marie, Joyce & Emily. I think it was a very enjoyable day for everyone there. David really had fun in the nursery, too!

Peek-a-Boo & Christmas Tea

Grandma signed me (Mom) up to decorate a table for her church's Ladies Christmas Tea. Today was set-up day. I used Grandmama's china for the place settings. Maybe we'll get some pictures to post tomorrow from the Tea.

Eleven Days 'Til Thanksgiving

Today I am thankful that my parents raised me in church. We were there all the time... they even left me there once! (Churches sure do get dark when everybody but the janitor leaves!)

I don't know what makes some people like going to church and some people not like going (other than God), but I am also thankful that I enjoy going to church.

And finally, I am thankful that David is enjoying going to church. He loves Cubbies and his Sunday School class.
