The Last Pictures of 2006!

Mmmm... bubbles!

Mom got a little carried away with the bubble bath on Friday night. After the bath, David needed a shower to get all the bubbles off!

Perhaps I was dreaming of how nice a hot bubble bath would feel if I could actually fit in the bathtub! - Mom

I really do wish I had notice that booger hanging out of his nose before taking this picture! Other than that, I thought this was a really cute picture.

STUFF ON MY CATS:

I am not submitting these to stuffonmycat.com, but I do submit them here for your enjoyment.

I wasn't fast enough to get her when she was sitting upright in the bag. It was very cute since her collar & the bag coordinate perfectly. Just a coincidence, though. Victoria's Secret doesn't sell cat accessories. Nor do they sell maternity drawers! : )

David actually set up this stuffonmycat! See the tire tracks in Tort's fur? David did that.

Hmmm.... Can Tort actually be that fat, or was this just an unflattering camera angle for him?

Now, if you've been keeping up with my ladybug accessories, I have almost completed the diaper bag. My sister is going to help me install a zipper in the bag when she gets here. I think this will be the last thing I sew before the baby comes.

Speech Progression

I can't remember if I mentioned that David has been using an odd sentence structure. Forgive me if this is a repeat. He's been saying sentences like: "I found it. Lightning. (the car)" or "I hear it. Airplane." or "I see it. Chris-chris tree." WELL yesterday, he ran into the living room, spotted Lightning on the floor and said, "Lightning! I found you!" I was excited about this change, thinking that it seems to be progress toward more grown-up speech.

He's also started using the phrase, "Gimmie kiss!" while playing with his Cars. One day I had to kiss Lightning for what seemed like 5 minutes while David kept repeating, "Gimmie kiss" and holding Lightning to my lips! Then he started running the cars into each other, saying it & making the cars kiss each other. Then yesterday, I overheard him playing & eavesdropped on this conversation:

Lightning in one hand, Sally in the other. (both Cars characters, Grandma)

"Gimmie kiss!"

Cars smash together.

"Mmmuh!" (kissing sound)

Then he rolled around on the floor making them blow kisses to each other.
It was soooo cute!!! I'll try to get some new pictures up later today.

Dad Fights Fire on His Day Off!

This is why fireworks are illegal in city limits!

A fireman had just called to report one of our neighbors shooting off fire works. Not 2 minutes later there came a frantic pounding on our front door. I had just gotten out of the shower & just had a towel wrapped around me, but heard Dad race through the house & outside. When I got to where I could see outside, I saw the fire moving across our yard!

The fire made it to the other neighbor's driveway & very close to his truck! So if you're coming to visit us soon, don't be surprised to see our yard blackened. Only fireman in town with a burned yard!

Baby Update: The midwife said not to expect a New Year's baby. : ( Almost dilated to a 2. Nothing else to report. Next visit, next week.

In Search of Boppy

This is my boppy pillow. (OK, I know I'm probably the only one who cares about my boppy pillow, but it has been very important to me the last few days for some reason... maybe it's part of nesting.)

I got it when pregnant with David and it was the best nursing pillow I could have ever had. There were no choices in fabrics when I got it - this was it. It was well used for 11 months.

Now comes baby #2 and I see no need to buy another pillow - they've started making slipcovers for them. So my search for a slipcover began online where I found this one at Target.

Then this pretty purple one was found at Babies-R-Us, but since it's reversible, it was pretty expensive.

Then, where should I turn, but eBay. There I found a small assortment of Boppy brand slipcovers, but a large assortment of home made slipcovers, including one that I really liked at a comparable price to the brand name ones. But the seller couldn't show me a picture of the fabric on the back of the pillow.

Then I got to thinking, "If she can do that, so can I!" This is my first attempt. It's a bit baggy, but it serves the purpose of covering the boppy.

I decided to try a larger seam allowance for a better fit and then I got creative...

Voila! An almost perfect fit, customized to match my ladybug wall hanging that coordinates perfectly with the bedding!

I think I could not be happier with my new boppy slipcover!!!

Before lunch today, I had taken over 60 photos and 5 video clips! Obviously a few too many to blog! So, I borrowed the slide show idea from my cousin and here are a few of the best photos from Christmas morning:

Christmas Eve

Happy Christmas Eve from the family:
Mom, Tabi, Dad, Tort & David

Dad just finished saying, "David, sit down. Mom's going to take our picture whether we want to or not."

Too bad the cats weren't looking at the camera, too!

For bed time snack tonight, we set up Santa's plate & mug and read The Night Before Christmas and The Christmas Story about Baby Jesus. Don't worry, we re-stocked the set-up before sending David off to bed.

(Good thing he wasn't asleep yet when both phones were ringing at 10:45!!) I don't know what he's doing in there, but he's not asleep!

Christmas: Round 1A

MawMaw & Aunt Jana came for a visit today since we couldn't go back home for Christmas this year. We enjoyed a too short visit with lunch and exchanging Christmas presents.

The last time we opened presents, I guess, was David's birthday back in May, so he was a little unsure about what was going on. He liked the bows, though.

Our children will never go without books!! David (& Elizabeth) got 11 new books from MawMaw today!

He still looks a little unsure... or maybe he's tired. He was very meticulous about removing every last piece of paper from the boxes, though... one square inch at a time!!!

I'm going to try to get a video to post here:

Christmas: Round 1B

David is now getting the hang of opening presents. Notice his new Elmo slippers and the flashlight on the far side of him. If you look closely, he's standing on a new puzzle.

Dad & Aunt Jana visit. I feel bad for missing her, but I never got a picture of MawMaw!

David opening more presents, still clutching the flashlight!

The flashlight, I think is supposed to be a flare. It came with this "Fire Department" sleeping bag that rolls up into a backpack to look like a pack a fireman would wear. Here he is in his fire helmet to complete the ensemble.

By the time we were done opening presents for Elizabeth, I felt like we had been to a baby shower! : ) Aunt Jana has been excited about her first niece! Here are a few pictures of Elizabeth's gifts... this is not all she got!

I accidentally deleted one of the "pink" pictures, but there was lots more!

The day ended with MawMaw & Aunt Jana driving back home and we watched, "The Sound of Music" on TV.

It's Beginning to Taste Like Christmas!

Yesterday we made sugar cookies and Chex mix. Today we made peanut butter cookies, peppermint brownies, and took lasagna to a family that just had a baby. Tomorrow we need to finish up with chocolate chip cookies and make our deliveries to the neighbors.

David is picking up on more verses of Christmas carols:

  • Fa la la la la
  • All is bright
  • Stars in sky

The Last Day

Today was our last day of Mother's Day Out for the fall semester. We had a bunch of teachers and kids both absent today for various reasons. My class only had 6 boys as opposed to the normal 11. David's class combined with another class & I'm not sure how many they had. Here are some of my pictures from today.

In the past few weeks, David has brought home come crafts from MDO & church that we've stuck on the tree, but this one takes the cake! Perhaps this is my first "mother's cherished ornament" - if anything EVER happens to this one, I will cry. Those 4 snowmen are David's fingers dipped in white paint and the one on the back is his thumb! His teacher added the accent paint to make them snowmen. My kudos to his teacher on this one!!!

Mom & David say "CHEESE!"

Click on the picture for a better view of David's first chipped tooth! This happened in the bouce house today.

Cold Boy

Brrr... David shivers when he gets out of the tub!

Today we looked back at his baby book and talked about when David was a baby. He looked confused and didn't say a word until I put the albums away.

Cat Boy

I would say that Tabi has sufficiently warmed up to David...

Had I not witnessed this naptime event yesterday, I don't know if I would have believed it! And he was even wearing a dog shirt!

Aren't they cute!?!?

Then it looks like they rolled around a little bit...

Then David rolled to the other end of the couch and Tort got in on the napping action.

David on Video

I also took a video of David with Santa yesterday so Dad could see it. Santa was waiting for me to take a picture. You can see in this video just how interested in Santa David was... but notice how he's enjoying the cookie & candy cane!

This morning, David suddenly discovered this little round quilt thing that Grandmama made on the back of the rocking chair and took great interest in it! I think she would have been proud that he likes it so much!

Does this picture look better than usual to you? I think the color & clarity has greatly improved. I have finally resolved the HP issue. After wasting over an hour having to re-take photos yesterday, I bought a Canon and will try to sell the HP on eBay.

Another amazing difference with the Canon is the video quality. I wasn't even considering that when I made my decision. The previous video was shot with the HP; the following with the Canon. I think you will also enjoy the subject of this video, too! : )

David Visits Santa

We visited Santa, who was visiting the fire station, today. David didn't really care who he was sitting on as long as he got to eat his cookie. He never said anything to Santa, and I'm not sure if he even looked at the old guy! He just sat there, eating his cookie, twirling a candy cane, watching the firemen & other kids that were running around the engine bay.

And OK, by the end of the day I just didn't feel like walking blocks to get a good spot to watch the Parade of Lights, so David & I stayed home this evening. We did rent Cars (the movie), however, and both greatly enjoyed it!
