Review: How Should a Christian Live? from The Word of Promise: Next Generation

When I first agreed to review this book, I thought it might be something I could use, but the age range is pretty far off from my kids, so I'll just do the review and then offer it to you! See giveaway details below...

From the Word of Promise: Next Generation comes this book, How Should a Christian Live? devotional & journal. Included with the book is a CD featuring MP3 readings of the scripture that goes along with the lesson.

I think this book is geared for the pre-teen/tween/early teen set as the lessons are very short and pretty simple to understand. There are 12 sessions and within each session the lesson is broken down into 5 even smaller pieces: Get It, Grab It, Hold It, Live It, and Give It. There are also word games & puzzles intermingled.

I think this would be a good study for a young person who is just starting out in their walk with Christ or just starting out in their own personal time with Him. The short length of the sections and chapters make it seem like studying further is actually doable.

The MP3 recordings are very well done. It is a dramatic reading of the scripture, complete with sound effects and background music. The voices are also young adults who may be familiar to the youth.

As a reminder:

CPR Teddy is the practice bear. You practice choking rescue and CPR skills on him as he talks you through the steps of each for both infant and child. Practice is encouraged at least once a quarter. Grandparents, baby sitters, and other caregivers can also practice on your bear. With a bear in your home, you can practice CPR as often as you think of it! Never practice CPR on a child and a CPR course with a certified instructor is still recommended.

Some hospitals are now giving the bears out to NICU patients and I've heard of one library who has a CPR Teddy available to check out.


CPR Teddy Jr. is not a practice bear, but a smaller, portable version. Junior is being regulated by the FDA and will talk you through the steps of CPR in an actual emergency. CPR Teddy Jr. will be released in December 2008, or earlier, and will be shipped at that time. The pre-order price of CPR Teddy Jr. on our website is considerably lower than the retail price will be later.

I also found out this week that Spanish CPR Teddy Jr. PROFESSIONAL is available to pre-order, as well. To order the Spanish bear, specify that at the check-out. Keep in mind that other language cartridges and CPR update cartridges will be available for CPR Teddy Jr. in the future!

Will you remember CPR when it counts? I am so convinced that CPR Teddy can help, that I became a distributor in 2006. If you haven't heard how he works yet, here's the simplest explanation I have:

CPR Teddy is a teddy bear and a practice manikin for infant & child CPR. Of course, everyone should take a class with a trained professional, but then you should also practice on a regular basis so that you won't forget the skills. Never practice CPR on an actual child! The bear has voice prompts that walk you through the technique. An air bag in the bear's chest & a face mask allow you to actually give rescue breaths and see the rise & fall of the chest. A light on the bear during compressions alerts you if you're pressing too hard or too soft on the chest. It is recommended that you practice CPR skills at least once per quarter. With a bear in your home, you could practice as frequently as you wish... and a CPR Teddy bear is cheaper and less intimidating than an infant manikin.

CPR Teddy Jr. is a smaller version. He is not a practice bear. He is regulated by the FDA to walk you through the steps of infant or child CPR in an actual emergency! He has a clip on his head so that he can be fastened to a car seat, stroller, diaper bag, changing table, etc. This way he is always within reach.
