Egg Hunt #3

 Think they'll find any eggs?!?!  This egg hunt was at church Sunday morning.  Elizabeth's age group was in the grass by the playground.  Rebekah was inside the playground.  And David was on the other side of the building.  Not great for a mom of many, but Lauren took David, Rebekah went in with Mason & Aunt Erin, Grandpa kept an eye on Elizabeth and Sarah stayed inside with Grana.  I think she just walked around showing off the baby for the 8 minutes the egg hunt took!  And I walked back & forth taking pictures.

 Elizabeth only picked up pink eggs.  Aunt Erin opened a sucker for Rebekah, and thus the "I want candy" began...

 Pretty girls!  Then I spent the next 20 minutes before church started getting the ants out of Rebekah's eggs.

Egg Hunt #2

 In years past, I have seen my kids go to Easter egg hunts where other kids run, grab, push & shove to grab all the eggs, leaving the less aggressive child standing there with an empty basket.  That always bothered me, since my kids were standing there with the empty baskets... so we started having out own family egg hunt.  It's more fun for me this way!

It was not quite the slowest egg hunt ever.  Rebekah did well gathering eggs and eating what was inside.  Elizabeth's basket didn't hold many eggs.  David was indifferent.

I would like to note that the egg hunt we went to with our homeschool group was not that way!  Other kids were following my little girls around sharing eggs and helping each other out.  It was so sweet!  That's what I want mine to learn to be like!  Two more egg hunts to go...

Coloring Eggs!

 I just love dyeing Easter eggs!  I love how they look in the dye, as they dry, and when I use them.  I dye all of my raw eggs.  Then for as long as they last, I have beautiful eggs to crack for morning breakfast & recipes.  This was the first year I've used our own homegrown eggs, so I wasn't sure what to expect with the brown ones.  Here's the before:

 I used the little tablets that you dissolve in vinegar & water for bright colors.  I let those sit for 20 minutes and they came out really dark & earthy on the brown eggs.  I think they're beautiful!

 Rebekah thought so, too!  The brighter turquoise eggs and the really bright yellow were my green eggs from the Easter Eggers.

 And this is what six dozen homegrown and dyed eggs look like in a box!  : )  They will be enjoyed as part of the Easter brunch at church!

Antique Alley

 We had a pretty day for our Antique Alley Yard Sale.  Traffic seemed slower this year, though. 

Easter Party at Thursday School

 I had the hankering to make a bunny cake this year.  My older siblings tell me they remember Granny making this cake, but all of my memories of Granny are in a wheelchair.  I do, however, have vivid memories of Grandmama making it one year.  So when the homeschool Easter party came up, I knew what I wanted to bring!

 Then I had to figure out how to transport it!  I couldn't wrap it.  So David got the all important job of holding the cake... until he fell asleep about 5 minutes after we left the house!

 I discovered I had enough clearance under the steering wheel to hold it, then.

 Finally made it to the party & what a great looking spread!

 My beautiful baby went with us, of course.

 And this is the only picture I got off all my kids together.

 Rebekah sucked the toppings off a cupcake.

 And then we had an egg hunt!

 This was Egg Hunt #1.  We're going for a new record this year...

Botanic Gardens

This month's field trip with our homeschool group was a trip to the Botanic Gardens!  Unfortunately, we didn't make the connection to go through with them because of a miscommunication.  But that's ok.  We're a group of our own now-a-days, and we had Grandpa with us also.  Little did I know that the aquarium in the visitor's building would be so exciting!

They told me I had to get a picture of Nemo!

 I want a waterfall like this in my yard...

with a swimming pool at the bottom would be nice, too.

 We toured some basic "gardens"

then went on the Native Texas Forest Boardwalk.
There were fun & educational pit stops along the walk.

The kids loved these tubes you could talk into.
Grandpa was at the other end talking back to them.

The Botanic Gardens doesn't have a playground,
but there was this log to play in.  Since my kids
are still mostly little, this was an exciting stop.

The water features are always a hit, too.
And I really enjoyed the Rose Garden.

At this point, all these fountains created an immediate need for someone... and the nearest facilities were about a 5 mile hike (it seemed), uphill with a double stroller loaded down.  So that's all the pictures I have.  That was about the end of the trip anyway as we went back through the Boardwalk to get back to the car.  It was still a fun day.
