Always check on suspicious noises!

You'd think that someone who is pregnant with #4 would have learned a few things... like when you hear a suspicious noise, always check it out.  Even when the other kids say there's nothing going on.

I heard the ting of a spoon on a glass bowl.  I was told Rebekah wasn't doing anything.  I assumed it was a chicken on the back porch.  Yes, as strange as that sounds, I thought that's what I heard.  That's what I get for reading email instead of looking for myself...

 Caught red... er... brown handed!

Then she started to realize 

maybe this wasn't a good thing...

 But Mom was still taking pictures,

so she decided it was ok after all

and started to ham it up...

She told me Rebekah wasn't doing anything.

chocolate milk powder

which had been on the kitchen counter.

She's getting too tall too fast.

is tall enough to reach the kitchen counters...

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Elizabeth needed a boost last night and said, "Mom, I need a caboose."

Rebekah is 6-months old!

Rebekah turned 6-months old on Wednesday, October 7! She is wonderful and different than her brother & sister, but she loves them very much!!!

Her 6-month check-up was on the 13th. She is up to 14 pounds, 10 oz. That is 25th-50th percentile. Her length is 27 inches. That is 75th percentile! I knew she was long....


As always, she measures well above the 100th percentile in cuteness and adorability. : )

Trying to sit up a little bit, but not quite there. Shouldn't be long...

Tiny Talk Tuesday.... and a few Legos

My tiny talkers are growing! David turned 5 last week! It's hard to believe. After he ate his birthday cake last Wednesday (at home with just us), he suddenly said, "HEY! We forgot my present!" So then I pulled it out and he built it.

I've been racking my brain to remember something cute Elizabeth said this week. She says cute stuff every day, but I didn't write anything down & now I can't remember. So I'll just show you how cute she is anyway.

All David asked for his birthday was Legos. And boy, did he get them! So far, he's made the Mine Mech (above), and then he used the Legos from that set and added the orange pieces to his Bionicle.

After his birthday party, he made the Front End Loader with Darth Vader on top,

Darth Vader's Tie Fighter,

the Claw Digger,

and some other little creations that I haven't gotten photographed yet! I think when he grows up, David just might be an engineer for Lego!

Tiny Talk Tuesday Updates

Together for Aunt Jana - HA!

Now that both kids are talking, sometimes so many things are said in a week's time that I can't remember anything that was said! I think I'm doing good to remember one thing from each kid...

Mom: Do you want to pray tonight?
David: Yes, my darling!
Thank you, God, for every future in my world. Amen. Your turn!

Someone made a noise... er, a gaseous noise.
Elizabeth: gasps & looks around
Dad: What was that?
Elizabeth: A frog!
And it actually did sound like a frog! (and it wasn't me, either!)

Rebekah can't talk yet, but here's what's going on with her - I had another check-up today. We are 33 weeks & 1 day, according to the nurse's little calculator wheel. I gained no weight in the last 2 weeks, which was good. My blood pressure was good. The heartbeat sounded good. And she's turned head-down now.

Upon asking if I had any questions, I complained to the doctor about my legs - swelling, cramps during the night, and the pain behind my knee last week (which has gotten better, thankfully). Not much to do for swelling but elevate them when I can and getting into a pool could help if I have access to a pool. He gave me a calcium supplement for the cramps and reiterated that superficial clots in the legs are not that serious.

My next visit was to be in 2 weeks, but he'll be gone that week, so I go back in 3 weeks. At that time I will get tested for Strep B. I hope he gets all his traveling over & done with so he'll be here to deliver Rebekah when it's time!

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Aunt Sissy helped me with some pizza dough issues the other night and said to make sure to take a picture of the pizza. So here ya go... in David's words, "Double Alfredo Pizza!"

Looks rustic, huh? The dough was still pretty thick & I had a really hard time flattening it. As you can see, this was pretty crusty pizza. I heard no complaints, though. The rest of the amazing alfredo sauce will become Chicken Alfredo later this week... then we'll see if it really does taste like the Olive Garden!

Man, he's come a long way.

And one more thing, but certainly not the least today - Please keep my friend, Rachel Anne, in your prayers as she's dealing with a miscarriage this week. I am heartbroken for her; I can only imagine what she's going through.

Tiny Talk Tuesday Visits Santa

Saturday we made a trip to visit Jolly Old Saint Nick. (I'm sure David would not approve of me calling him that.) I've never really made a big deal about Santa, but we go get the picture with him every year, we read 'Twas The Night Before Christmas at some point & we leave out milk & cookies. I don't think we've ever actually discussed the particulars of Santa, though. We spend more time talking about the Nativity & I've been really trying to teach David about giving this year.

David was actually excited about telling Santa what he wanted this year. I just figured he was at that age. Elizabeth was less sure about the whole thing.

We stood in line for probably 30 minutes waiting for our turn. I explained how it would work: We go up this ramp, you get in the sleigh with Santa, he'll ask you what you want for Christmas, we take a picture, then we go down the other ramp and wait at the bottom for our picture. Simple enough, right?

First off, David went right into the sleigh and started talking to Santa. Elizabeth didn't want to get in the sleigh. Dad was a trooper and saved my photos by getting in the sleigh with them. Yeah, Dad!

Well, Santa was interested in having a conversation. You think he'd get tired of that. He asked David if he'd been good, if he was going to leave out cookies, and what he wanted for Christmas. David said, "I want a new toy for Christmas." Then he waited for Santa to ask him what kind of toy. Santa didn't ask quite right, so Dad prompted David to tell him what kind of toy he wanted. "A toy Wall-E," David replied in a quiet voice. Santa didn't hear him, so Dad helped again. Santa kept asking if that was all he wanted, are you sure there's nothing else? I was wondering if Santa knew who Wall-E was and then if Santa really wanted every child to come to him with a hundred item list.

David showed Santa his Wall-E shirt that he was wearing. We took the pictures & headed down the ramp.

While waiting for their picture to print out. David asked for his toy Wall-E. Dad explained to him that we don't get it right now. Today, we just visited with Santa, showed him the shirt and told him that's what you wanted. Dad said, then Santa might bring you one on Christmas. David replied,

"Can he bring it out right now?"

Um... I think we've misunderstood this Santa photo-op... which is all *I* was considering this to be! It took some convincing but we were able to leave without tears!

And Elizabeth was so cute when she would say, "Ho, Ho, Ho!"

Tights

I remember being in David's class at church when he was little. I saw them changing a little girl who was wearing those ruffly bottomed hose. I thought how ridiculous it was to put the nursery worker through that - the wrestling on & off of tiny hose. When I had Elizabeth, I never dressed her in ruffly bottomed hose because I remembered that.

When cold weather hit this year, I felt bad that her legs were exposed when she was wearing a dress, though. I finally broke down and bought a pair of white tights. Turns out, I have never seen anything cuter than Elizabeth wearing tights! It seems not to matter any more if it's hard on her teachers at church. : )

Now she has 2 pair. And I'm thinking it wouldn't be that bad to have more colors...

Happy Halloween!

October was a busy month! I missed blogging several event because I was so busy, so I've put together a slide show. In addition to working on the house constantly, we also managed to visit a pumpkin patch, visit Aunt Erin in the hospital when Baby Mason was born, celebrate many birthdays, move our stuff into our house, attend a Fall Fest, and go Trick-or-Treating (to one house!).

He's always thinking... I told him today that El Toro Loco means the Crazy Bull in Spanish, but he didn't believe me!

Oh, and that reminds me - Elizabeth said something today that we couldn't understand, so David said, "Elizabeth is speaking Spanish!"

No words to go with this one, but has anyone else noticed that underwear always seems to fit not only the bottom, but the top as well? I remember one of Uncle Bubba's friends wearing his underwear on his head one day on the school bus...

There's EB's kicking back with some milk before bedtime. She's saying "hi" to everyone all day long. When Dad comes in from working, "Hi, Dad!" When Grandpa comes in from working, "Hi, Grandpa!" When Grandma comes in from Quilt Club, "Hi, Grandma!" And every single time Jesse walked by last weekend when he was staying here, "There's Jesse!"

With all that's going on right now, sometime Tiny Talk Tuesday is the only post I get to all week, but I know the family that reads this enjoys it, so I try really hard to make sure it's here for ya! You can read more Tiny Talk by clicking over to Not Before 7.

Sleeping Angel Contest

At this very moment, my babies are sleeping angels. Crashed in my old bedroom, where the four of us have slept for over a year now. David has his twin mattress on the floor against one wall...

Complete with shark pillow, Snoopy sheets, and his "Great blanket" that my Grandmama made for him.

And in a play pen that she's just about to outgrow, Elizabeth is up against the opposite wall with her snuggly pink blanket (completely under her) and her little lamb.

Mom & Dad's bed is sandwiched in the middle of the room between the kids. BUT SOON... and I've been saying SOON for a while now... but soon for real, we should be able to move into our own house! And wouldn't it be grand if we had a beautiful bedroom set for David's room?

Well, I was so excited to see that 5 Minutes for Mom was hosting the Sleeping Angel Contest! I could just envision David's mattress off the floor (it's been on the floor since he was 2) and WOW, storage underneath it!!!! I also love the bookshelf headboard. That would be the perfect place for his favorite books and, of course, a flashlight. This is the Summer Breeze set, but I'm not sure if I'd pick the blue or pine finish.
