Kids' First Geocaching Experience

 I mentioned that my kids needed to have a GrandpaVenture and next thing I know we were loaded up & ready for an exciting day of geocaching!

 Grandpa was in front with the GPS(s) and had all the cache coordinates entered in.  We headed south to find our first (virtual) cache.

 I had gone through and selected some caches that I thought would be interesting to our crew.  Too bad we weren't in West earlier... I really wanted to get a kolache.  But it was close to lunch time, so we went on to Waco for pizza. 

After lunch we headed on to an ammo box cache.

 Had to stop and look at toadstools.  None were left standing.

 David was excited with his first find!  

So was Elizabeth!

 Our final destination was Temple.

 At the opposite end from the depot was a new playground!

 We had a little Cabana on the way home & got home in time for bed!  What a great day!

Road Trip!

One thing that Dad & I have always loved doing together is taking road trips. It's been a while since we took one, so when the opportunity arose to go to a cousin's wedding and MawMaw offered to keep the kids for the weekend, we jumped on it!

I collect photos of Texas courthouses, so we added a few more to the collection on this trip.

When we were hungry, our choices were Don Antonio's Tortilleria or Dairy Queen. Don won that one! While stopped for lunch, Dad worked on the trip sheet, noting how long we had spent stopped...
Texas has some of the most beautiful courthouses. This was not one of them.

OK, none of the courthouses on this trip were one of them...


But this one had a lawyer handy across the street!

Finally made it & we got all prettied up for the wedding. Don't we look cute?! : )

The church was beautiful! After I caught my breath, I took pictures from all angles:

Just to show that we actually did attend a wedding, here's a photo of us with the bride & groom... ok, us and all of our side of the family that attended.

Their colors were red & black. The cake was very cute! Bottom layer was red velvet, the middle chocolate, the top was white. We had red velvet. Later that night, my body went into shock from that much artificial food coloring, since I have been off of it along with David on his diet. I won't be doing that again...

There was dancing at the reception and I actually had a dance with my sweet hubby! We really need to learn how to dance because there's another wedding later this summer and we may not be able to hide in the crowd next time!

I showed that picture to David of Aunt Jana singing with her arms up in the air, and some Tiny Talk ensued.
David: What is Aunt Jana singing?
Mom: I don't know.
David: I think she's singing a Star Wars song!
bwahahahahaha!!!!

It's really amazing how many windmills there are out there now-a-days! Of course, we followed the rails for as much of the trip as we could.

Now there's something you don't see every day! (it's an inside joke) hahaha!!!

Birthday on the Rails

Last Saturday was Elizabeth's 3rd birthday!!! She said she wanted to ride a train. With a January birthday, there's not a whole lot you can do. The zoo would have been too cold. But when given the choice, she picked train over zoo! I think credit must be given to The Polar Express and Dinosaur Train... not to mention a rail fan Dad. No matter, it was a lot of fun for all!

Everything was exciting as she looked out the window!

She saw tunnels, water, and even a butterfly at one of the stops!

When the train stopped on the other side (before coming back),
we had cupcakes!

Grandma assisted so that she wouldn't get her jacket all chocolaty.
After cupcakes... presents!

She kept gasping saying,
"Oh my! Oh my!"

She got more princess stuff and some really cute dresses.
She excitedly waved the clothes around,
so I was unable to photograph them!

When we got back to the station,
Dad wanted us to look at the old T&P Building.
Uncle Bubba put some good photos on his blog.

But Elizabeth just played with her beads & purse.

She was eager to head to McDonald's for lunch, though!
