Achievements

Elizabeth has been psudo-crawling for a little while, but I'm going to say that her first day of actual crawling on all fours was Thursday, January 31.

Watch out world, here she comes! She's already pulled videos off the TV cart, she can help herself to her toys on a low shelf, and I'm just waiting for the day she gets to the ash bucket before I notice it.

Dad also had his annual physical assessment on Thursday, and got the "excellent" rating! This got him a free t-shirt from the fitness center.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Well, I jotted some things down this week to remember, but I can't read all of my notes! That ever happen to anyone else?

I came in the living room this week to find this scene: David had picked out all of the Cars that have blue eyes (like him) and lined them up in a row. He was standing there taking their picture. I was going to post his picture, but I can't locate his camera right now.

Dad got a weight bench this week on eBay. David's been playing with one of the 5# dumbbells. I don't know if you'll be able to hear it all because of the wind, but right before he stopped, he said, "That's hard!" and when prompted by Dad to answer he said, "It helps me get strong... and eat healthy food."

After seeing a commercial for a men's hair color product, David declared, "I have gray hair!"

At the grocery store yesterday, a lady offered to help us out to the car. As she was nearing the basket, David asked, "Is that lady fat?" Yikes! I don't think she heard him. He thinks it's funny when he makes his tummy stick out fat... now to teach him that not everyone thinks it's funny!

Elizabeth made a new sign this week! We were eating supper one night & I got distracted from feeding her. When I looked at her, she was making the sign, "More!"
Dad held a toy phone up to Elizabeth's ear, saying hello? over & over. Before long, she was repeating, "Hello?" in the cutest little voice!

Busy Week for Big Stuff

This has been a pretty busy week so far. Sometimes I just wish for a few more hours to sneak off somewhere, so I could sleep uninterrupted. I'm sure someone would find me & wake me up, though. It never fails. Anyway... 2 major firsts for Elizabeth took place on Tuesday:

1) She ate her first french fry. (I was in the bathroom with David when it happened.)

2) She finally sat herself up, from a laying down position!!! In this video you will also hear a cat meow and see David taking a picture of Elizabeth:

Cubbies tonight - David earned another patch for his vest for scripture memory! Yeah, David! Imgaine this... 15 - 3 & 4 year olds in a room that doesn't seem much bigger than our bathroom! It was very loud.

Now, to try to get a few hours sleep before someone wakes me up...

Tiny Talk Tuesday

I am making a point to remember the talking this week! and the singing... and the squeaking... and the squealing... and the quacking...

David still spontaneously breaks into verses of 12 Days of Christmas, but more & more variety comes out each week. Yes, he's our in-house variety show, appearing live daily on the kitchen stool.

David's really into cars. One day Grandma asked him what his favorite color is; he replied, "Ferrari red."

David is very observant about little things. One day while playing with Boost, from the movie Cars, he observed, "Boost has a beard!" That's Boost to the right. Do you see how his black ground effects resemble Grandpa's beard?

While David was playing with his Larry Mobile, Elizabeth picked up Larry Boy. I heard David say, "No, don't eat Larry Boy! You eat food!" He seemed a little disappointed when I told him that cucumbers were food!

While reading a Touch & Feel Farm book with Elizabeth, she repeated duck and quack! She has quacked before, but this was her first duck! Later in the tub, she was excitedly waving the little ducky in the air saying, "Duck, duck, quack, quack!"

Playing Together

When Elizabeth was born, my best friend told me, "Just wait - when they start playing together & interacting with each other - it's gonna melt your heart!"

She was right! David & Elizabeth are interacting with each other more & more each day. It is so fun to watch the love between them grow!
Today in the car, they were taking turns mimicking each other. Just so cute!!!

Another First!

Elizabeth took her first big tub bath tonight! Notice how the water was kinda stirred up? David was at the other end of the tub, making a ruckus. She thoroughly enjoyed the big bathtub. And I think David enjoyed sharing his tub time with her, too. He even helped rise the soap off her back! Very cute...

Tiny Talk Tuesday

David has been talking & singing nonstop for days. Maybe even weeks, now. So Monday night, I sat down to video him singing a song. For the first time, he was suddenly quiet! Go figure.

There he is playing with Cousin Will at Elizabeth's birthday party.

I think I got out of the habit of remembering the cute things he says over the holidays. It's amazing how quickly one can fall out of a good habit! Grandma says that David says so much it's hard to remember it all!

Dad picked up David & David said, "David and Dad are good firefighters!"

Thanks to Wee Sing, David is finally singing some new songs, but he still throws in a line of Jingle Bells, Angels We Have Heard on High, and The 12 Days of Christmas in there. New songs he's started singing this week include BINGO, Who Built the Ark?, Deep and Wide.

We walked up the tall hill beside Grandpa's house yesterday. When we got to the top I said, "Look how tall we are!" David said, "Yeah, look how tall I am! I am tall like Jesse!" (Jesse is his 11 year old cousin.)

Elizabeth has added "book" to her repertoire. She is really enjoying all the books she got for her birthday! Here she is enjoying a slice of banana & a biscuit for breakfast.

Elizabeth's First Birthday Party!

I told Dad that in case he hadn't noticed, a first birthday party is more for Mom & the rest of the people who'd come than it is for the one year old! This feels so true to me, because I feel like I've accomplished a lot in this year - I deserve a party! : ) Now, on to Elizabeth. Look at that cute little grin she has playing with the sack! In the background, you can see the back of the I Spy quilt that Grandma made for her.

David blew out the candle for Elizabeth & she thought that was really funny!!! Then she had no idea what to do with the cupcake! I wonder if that's because she's never had sweets before or if she just wasn't hungry?

I think she had a couple of bites before she discovered that crumbling the cupcake was really fun! Then, throwing it on the floor was fun! Thank goodness for Grandpa's concrete floor! It was easy to clean.
